Impressions of bright Island
2022. Experimental photography exhibition.
Popularly known through the works of painters such as Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Camille Pissarro, and many others, the Impressionist movement became a turning point in art history. Their works, typically painted outdoors, captured tones, contrasts, and hues observed over many days and hours of contemplation.
The same light they depicted serves as the raw material for a photographer's work.
"Impressions on a Shining Island" was an experimental exhibition that sought to capture solar variation and its visual effects on the same landscape using photographic techniques.
Each image is created through a recomposition of the landscape, made from photographs taken at different times of the day and on different days, with the camera fixed on a tripod to ensure the precise repetition of the same frame.
Selected through the Aldir Blanc 2021 public call, the exhibition emerges as a provocation to rethink the essence of photography, revisiting its concept and allowing for an in-depth exploration of aesthetics and visual language.
